Eagles Can’t Catch Up To Brunswick

Eagles fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 19-13 loss to Brunswick on Saturday. Brunswick scored on a home run by Alyssa Herbst in the first inning, a double by Arianna Marano in the first inning, a double by Aaliyah Radwan in the first inning, a double by Olivia Campbell in the first inning, a home run by Herbst in the second inning, and a home run by Austine Kinney in the second inning.

Sara Gilley collected four hits in defeat. Gilley homered in the first, singled in the fourth, doubled in the fifth, and doubled in the seventh.

After Eagles scored four runs in the top of the second, Brunswick answered with four of their own. Eagles scored when Izzy D’Alessandro drew a walk, scoring one run, Gilley drew a walk, scoring one run, and Radwan induced Gillian Gallagher to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored. Brunswick then answered when Herbst homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Kinney homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Reese Savage pitched Brunswick to victory. The fireballer lasted three innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three.

Jenna Christner took the loss for Eagles. The pitcher allowed seven hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out four.

Radwan started the game for Brunswick. Radwan lasted four innings, allowing 11 hits and ten runs while striking out three Rachel Adams started the game for Eagles. The righty lasted one inning, allowing seven hits and seven runs while walking one

Eagles tallied one home run on the day. Gilley had a four bagger in the first inning.

Eagles tallied 16 hits on the day. Gilley, Sydney Sukenik, Adams, Izzy Reich, and Brianna Corrado all had multiple hits for Eagles. Gilley went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Eagles in hits.

Brunswick collected 18 hits. Herbst, Faith Vlcek, Katie O’Malley, Campbell, Marano, and Kinney all collected multiple hits for Brunswick. Herbst led Brunswick with four hits in four at bats.
