After a rough start this season, the Varsity Eagles broke through to their first win, a rousing 56 to 52 victory over the visiting Amherst Comets. The Eagles erased a 5-point half time deficit with a 20 point 3rd quarter to take a 38-33 lead at the break. They were sparked by 3 long range field goals by Kevin Kidd in the quarter who came off the bench to lead the scoring with 14 points. Darren Anders was 6 for 6 at the free throw line and finished with 8 points. Ben Lima hit 7 of 8 free throws in the 4th quarter to salt the game away and finished with 10 points. Overall the Eagles made 9 3-point baskets and were 19 of 24 from the free throw line while the Comets went 12 for 22 from the charity stripe. Free throw shooting was the key to the victory. Jack Kelly scored 9 points. Jon Kramer and Jared Strong each had 6 points and Sam Bring contributed 3 points.
