Game Recap

Prior to the regularly scheduled games with Normandy on December 30th, the North Olmsted Alumni (former basketball players who played prior to 2010) squared off against their fellow alumni (North Olmsted City Schools) who played in 2010 and later in what has become an annual holiday affair. The Alumni prevailed 87-67 in a spirited contest that was led by the City Schoolers 55-54 at the end of the third quarter. However, the Alumni brought the lumber in the final stanza and pulled away for a comfortable victory. Leading scorers for the Alumni were: Dave Janis -30 points; George Bloomfield -23 points; and Matt Rogalski -15 points. Paris Villaneuva paced the city schools team with 23 points and Jah Tyler added 11, and Ryan Coleman 9 points. Other players included Jason Brent, Matt Spyak, Jimmy Clark, Logan Thompson, Kyle Wapshott, Brad Reinhardt, Tommy Sullivan, Jason Frolo, Jared Howells, Courtney Mosley, James Steele and Andy Sismour. Thanks to Coach Frolo and AD Mike Ptacek for organizing the game and bringing back fond memories of times past!

Game Recap

The Eagles suffered through the opening quarter of the game going 0 for 6 from the free throw line. However, in the second quarter they utilized full court pressure to cause several turnovers by the Invaders and were sparked by Jarred Strong’s 10 points off the bench to lead at intermission by 2 points. Full court pressure was the name of the game in the third stanza and the Eagles raced to a 45-34 margin at the end of the quarter. Normandy came back in the final stanza but their 3-point shot attempt to tie at the horn fell short and the Eagles prevailed 51-48. Kenan Johnstone had 13 points for the victors and Jarred Strong chipped in 10 points.

Game Recap

The junior Eagles enjoyed balanced scoring from Evan Grablovic, Jarred Strong, and Darren Anders to overcome a slow start of only 2 points in the first quarter to post a 16-13 halftime lead over the Normandy Invaders. The outcome looked bleak in the third quarter as the Eagles committed 9 fouls in the quarter alone and lost the lead. The team battled back in the final stanza and tied the game at 36 with 73 seconds remaining on 2 free throws by Darren Anders. Jarred Strong sank a 3-point bomb with 39 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a 39-36 lead but Normandy answered with a 3-point bucket of their own to tie the game at 39 with 5.6 seconds remaining. Taking a long pass on an inbound play, Sam Bring canned the game winner from far beyond the 3-point arc to win the game at the horn, 42-39. Anders paced the Eagles with 10 points and Bring added 8 in the first victory for the team this season!
