Multiple Teams · 2019-2020 Winter Sports ESPY Results


Congratulations to all of our student-athletes that represented the Eagles in the Annual NOHS Winter ESPY Awards. The purpose of bringing a postseason vote award to NOHS is to create familiarity between the student-athletes, the community, and our athletic department.

The ESPY Award ballot generated over 16,000 votes. The Athletic Department would like to give a big thanks to everyone who participated.

The NOHS ESPY’s provided five categories which included the following: Male Student-Athlete of the Winter, Female Student-Athlete of the Winter, Male Breakthrough Athlete of the Winter, Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Winter and Best Play/ Highlight of the Winter Season.

Female Athlete of the Winter Season 2019

Winner – Elena Kobak (Girls Swimming and Diving) winning with over 2,000 total votes

Elena is a sophomore here at NOHS and was honorable mention All-SWC this season. She placed 6th at the SWC meet in the 100-yard breaststroke and was also a district qualifier in the 200 yard Medley Relay.

Male Athlete of the Winter Season 2019

Winner – Braden Martens (Boys Swimming and Diving) winning with over 3,900 total votes

Braden had a great season as a sophomore at NOHS. Braden broke the school record for the 500 Free this season. He was also a district qualifier this season. Braden placed 2nd overall in the 500 and 5th overall in the 200 yard IM at the SWC Meet. Braden was awarded 2nd Team All-SWC.

Runner-up: Shawn Donovan (Ice Hockey) almost 3,600 total votes

Female Breakthrough Athlete – Winter 2019

Winner – Hope Leaman (Cheer & Gymnastics) winning with over 2,000 total votes

Hope is sophomore and participated in both cheer and gymnastics.

Runner-up: Jenna Cvijovic (Girls Basketball) finished with 1,805 total votes

Male Breakthrough Athlete – Winter 2019

Winner – Christian Stuver (Boys Bowling) winning almost 70% of the votes and 2,995 total votes.

Christian had an outstanding season this year as a sophomore. He was awarded Honorable mention All-SWC this season.

Play/ Highlight of the Winter Season – 2109

Winner – Braden Martens breaks the school record for the 500 M Free (Boys Swimming and Diving) winning 41% of the votes and 3,949 total votes.

Braden had a great season as a sophomore at NOHS. Braden broke the school record for the 500 Free this season. He was also a district qualifier this season. Braden placed 2nd overall in the 500 and 5th overall in the 200 yard IM at the SWC Meet. Braden was awarded 2nd Team All-SWC.

Additional results:

Runner Up – Jared Strong breaks the school record for 3-pointers made in a career and season and tied the record for most 3-pointers made in a game (Boys Basketball) with just over 36% of the votes and 3,505 total votes.
