Game Recap

The Varsity raced to a 14 point halftime lead over the Bulldogs powered by Andy Bussman’s 9 point effort in the first quarter and 7 points by Kevin Kidd off the bench in the second quarter. The wheels fell off in the third quarter as the Eagles could only manage 2 points in the period and they let Falls get back in the game to take a 37-35 lead to start the final period. The squads traded baskets and were tied at 43-43 with 1 minute remaining when North Olmsted called time out to set up a play. Coming out of the timeout, the Eagles got a clutch put back by Kenan Johnstone to go ahead 45-43, a lead that they held until the final 4 seconds when Falls got a 3-point bucket from the corner to take a 46-45 lead. Following another timeout the Eagles’ inbound play was unsuccessful and Falls pulled out a thrilling victory. The game was particularly frustrating because the Eagles easily handled the Bulldogs’ vaunted press and but for the third quarter meltdown (no excuses) they could have won the game handily. Andy Bussman finished with 13 points. Jack Kelly had 10 and Kevin Kidd totaled 7 points. The team is 10 and 10 going into the final 2 regular season games next week.
