North Olmsted Varsity Hockey player Shane Malinak scored his 100th career goal in the 3-2 overtime thrilling win over Midview on Saturday. It was an exceptional game for Malinak who posted a hat trick in a very significant conference matchup between two talented teams of the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League.
Despite the loss, Midview (17-4) is still technically in first place of the Red South Division with 10 points from a 5-2 record but North Olmsted is currently sitting at 4-1-1 with 9 points and a head-to-head win in case of a tiebreaker. After defeating Kent Roosevelt 6-0 on Sunday, the Eagles can claim sole possession of first place by winning their last three league games.
Malinak’s overtime goal gave him his 27th on the season while eclipsing the 100 mark for his career. The senior forward has led the Eagles to a 10-9-3 overall record and remain in control to take first place of the Red South Division. To conclude the season the Eagles will take on Cleveland Heights, Olmsted Falls, and Solon.
