Baseball and Softball All SWC Honors Announced

The Southwestern Conference (SWC) held their postseason meeting last night (5-22) for both softball and baseball. The Eagles baseball and softball teams were well represented with 2 second team members and 4 honorable mention all SWC athletes.

Softball

2nd Team All SWC – Kaitlyn Bittel

Starting varsity first baseman for the third season in a row. She hit in the 4/5 spot in the lineup. Batting a career high .371 for her senior season. She has 5 doubles on the season with 7 RBI’s. Her fielding percentage is the highest on the team at .969.

Honorable Mention All SWC – Cassie Burkey

Starting varsity catcher for the third season in a row. Batting .300 in the 4/5 spot in the line up. Tied for first on the team with 6 doubles, has 1 triple and 1 home run this season as a junior. Has a .600 slugging percentage which is the highest on the team. She also has the most RBI’s on the team at 13. Her fielding percentage is .936.

Honorable Mention All SWC – Alex Balson

Sophomore center fielder batted .348 on the season for the Eagles.  Near the top of the team in OBP and runs scored. Alex earned her 2nd letter in softball for the Eagles this season.

Honorable Mention All SWC – Dynis Frigic

Dynis is a three letterman and a two year starter for the Eagles baseball team. Was the Eagles varsity catcher for the past three seasons. Led the Eagles in batting average last year and is near the top again this season.  Was also the team leader in RBI’s and extra base hits this season.

Honorable Mention All SWC – Clay Rainey

Sophomore second baseman turning himself into a huge contributor for the Eagles this season by batting over .300 and leading his team in hits and runs scored. Clay earned his second varsity letter this year.

Honorable Mention All SWC – Sam Guercio

The junior and 2 year letterman has been one of the top pitchers to take the mound over the past few years. Sam has added to his “Top Pitcher” Award as a sophomore by having five wins and over 30 strikeouts on the year.
