Alex Belaia-Martiniouk

North Olmsted High School alumnus Alex Belaia-Martiniouk is ready to make his mark in the Duke University Wrestling program. The former two-time high school All-American has wrestled at 174 pounds and 184 pounds throughout his three years as a Blue Devil, but with a lot of offseason work and dedication Alex will be inserted into the starting lineup in the 197 pound weight class. He went 7-5 last season at 184 pounds, taking third at the Newberry Open and is 12-12 overall for his career.

As an Eagle, Alex posted a 105-36 record and garnered four varsity letters in his high school wrestling career. He racked up multiple accolades in his junior and senior years, including numerous conference, sectional, and district honors; a 43-8 record as a senior to place seventh at the state championships, and became the first wrestler in North Olmsted High School history to be invited to and participate in the Ironman Wrestling Tournament.

Bottom line is, Alex has a special work ethic and is dedicated to becoming the best he can be. Heading into his redshirt junior year, he will look to take advantage of this opportunity being presented and show his teammates and coaches that he is ready to make an impact in the wrestling program at Duke University.
